If I were to get an LG C9, would I have to replace my Onkyo TX-NR609 to get the full benefit? It looks like it has basic ARC and CEC, not eARC.
My current set up has a Switch/Xbox One/PS4 through the Onkyo to the TV, but I dont think I will get the full 4K/HDR benefit with this set up on a new LG C9.
What is the best solution here? Seems like I need to hook up the systems directly to the TV for video and then somehow get the surround sound out to the receiver. How would I do that? After reading a bit about ARC and eARC it sounds like thats the way to go? Can I just connect the digital optical out to the receiver? With any of these options will I lose surround sound or sound quality?
Finally, semi tangential question is that it seems like optimal is to connect the video source directly to the tv. If I do that, I shouldnt need a fancy AV receiver, just something that takes surround sound properly to th 73 km
